When workers walk off the job to implement their right to strike, it is a powerful collective action that brings people together to fight for better pay, respect for workers, and demand better, safer, working conditions. When employers hire external or internal replacements, not only does this undermine the power of all workers, it shows that workers are not valued for the unique skills and experience they contribute.
Protect Workers from Heat Stress
Workers should be able to come to work knowing that they will be working in safe conditions, including being protected from heat stress. With more extreme heat days due to climate change, workplaces like classrooms, restaurant kitchens and dining areas, and outdoor environments like farms or camp workers, can become dangerous when workers are not protected or provided the proper knowledge of how to identify the symptoms of heat stress. It's time that the province set maximum temperature limits in the workplace so workers stay safe on the job.
