Stop the cuts to Public Health

Doug Ford's government is pushing ahead with cuts of $1 Billion dollars to public health funding in Ontario over the next 10 years, slashing existing public health units from 35 to 10. In Davenport, that means essential public health programs like school nutrition programs, immunization clinics, sexual health services, food and restaurant inspections, seniors health programs and childcare centre inspections are in danger of being scaled back or lost altogether.

On July 4, I held a community meeting on public health cuts with Chair of the Toronto Board of Health, Joe Cressy, and our local TDSB Trustee Stephanie Donaldson, a member of the Board of Health. Together we talked about the successful organizing that led Ford to back down on the retroactive portion of his cuts, and the need to keep working to stop all the planned cuts.

Take Action
